A game of cornhole is a fun and competitive pastime. But it’s also a sport with rules and regulations that need to be followed in order to maintain the integrity of the game. In this article, we will discuss the specifics of what makes a cornhole official size and how that impacts the games play and scoring.
In a match of cornhole, players compete against one another by tossing bags into a board target. The goal is to earn the most points by the end of the inning. The first team to reach 21 points wins the match. The competition is played in either singles or doubles.
During gameplay, players must stand within the pitcher’s box. It is illegal to make distracting noises or movements while playing. If a player notices another player making distracting movements, they can call a time-out and notify a Certified Official. They will not be charged for the time-out.
When it comes to the regulation size of cornhole boards, they must be 48 inches long by 24 inches wide with a 6 inch diameter hole that is centered 9″ from the top and 12″ from each side edge. The playing surface of the board should be finished and sanded to a smooth texture so that bags can slide easily down the board without disrupting the gameplay.
For adult games, the foul lines are 27 feet apart from the front edge of one board to the front edge of the opposite board. The distance is easy to remember if you remember that Larry Bird (who wore jersey number 33 for the Boston Celtics) was the best player in basketball history.
