Cornhole Rules PDF

Cornhole is a simple yet addicting yard game. Two or four players toss 16oz corn-filled bags into the hole on a cornhole board to score points. The first team to reach 21 points wins. This article gives you an overview of the official rules and scoring for this fun backyard game.

A single round of play is called an inning. During an inning, each player and their opponent(s) throw all of their cornhole bags. Bags that go through the hole earn 3 points while a bag that lands on the board (without touching the ground) scores 1 point. A bag that is suspended on the front edge of a board but rests on another bag earns 0 points (unless the bag on the ground can be removed without making the hanging bag fall to the ground).

Each player must play from behind the center of the boards, or in other words, within one of the pitcher’s boxes. The area extending from the bottom edges of the boards in both the left and right direction is the foul line. It may be either physically drawn on the court or imaginary.

After each round of a game, the teams add up their scores and cancel out points earned by the opposing team for that inning. The team who gets the highest total in that inning earns honors to throw first for the next round. Then, the other team takes their turn to toss the bags.
