Cornhole Scoreboard and Scorekeeper Construction

Building a cornhole scoreboard is surprisingly easy once you’ve been shown how. To make it even simpler, just use a standard vinyl wall calendar, or some other large, smooth board. I used a child’s art poster for my base and then painted it with a slightly darker shade of green for the boards. That way, the posts and cornhole bags would stand out and are easier to see.

Most systems are made of two posts for scoring, but you can base yours on several different placements too. When building the scoreboard, use the best quality construction materials you have, because they’ll last longer. You can purchase the pre-fabricated bases from many hardware stores. Or, you can make your own with plywood, a few nails and a few screws. Just make sure that all the holes you drill are the same size all the way through, since otherwise the bag will sink into one of the holes while the score, etc, will be rubbing against it, causing the score to be low and the bag to split.

After you’ve drilled all the holes and attached the boards, you’ll need to buy some magnetic scoring system paddles. I like the magnetic scoring system paddles because they’re very durable and they keep the boards from sliding around as I walk around the area. You can also purchase magnetic scoring system paddles that have the score on them or ones with a magnetic backing. Whatever you do, don’t skimp on the magnetic scoring system paddles, they’ll be cheap and they won’t last long. I also like the magnetic scoring system, because it’s so easy to read when the boards are wet.
