The proper distance for cornhole is 27 feet from the front edge of each board. This specific measurement is what makes the game a game of skill over luck and allows players to be competitive at every level. The regulation distance also sets up the pitcher’s box, a rectangle four feet by three feet located on either side of the boards and parallel to them. Players must remain in the pitcher’s box when throwing a bag to avoid being called a foul.
Foul lines are also placed on the front of each board, extending three feet from each side. The foul line is a distance of 27 feet from the front edge of the board and is set up to match the pitcher’s box on both sides of the boards. Juniors can opt for a different foul line that is 21 feet from the front edge of each board.
