When it comes to bean bag material, there are many options available depending on what type of bag you want. For example, you can choose from EPS beads or shredded foam, or even natural materials like beans and pellets. The amount of filler you need will depend on the size of your bag – to determine this you need to measure its height, breadth and length. Then multiply these figures together to get the volume of your bean bag.
The fabric you use for the outside of the bean bag is important too, especially if it’s going to be used outdoors. The fabric has to be able to withstand harsh impacts as well as the elements so a strong, durable material is ideal. Canvas is a good choice because it’s thick and heavy and will be able to stand up to a lot of handling, including being thrown some distance away in a bean bag toss game.
Other fabrics include cotton which is also durable, but it can fade over time in direct sunlight. Synthetic fabrics are better for outdoor use because they are more resistant to outside conditions, and are usually mildew, mold and stain-resistant too.
Leather is a luxurious option for a bean bag and looks great but is expensive and can crack over time, causing the bag to look worn. There are synthetic alternatives though like polyester and nylon which are good value, tough, durable and suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
