Cornhole, also known as bean bag toss or baggo, is a fun way for families to bond and have some friendly competition. It’s a popular game for barbecues, camping trips, tailgate parties and more. While you could buy a set, building your own can be cheaper and a fun weekend project. These DIY cornhole board plans will walk you through the build steps to create a set that’s ready for games and tournaments.
This free plan from Four Oaks Crafts breaks down exactly what tools and supplies you’ll need to get started. It then walks you through the step by step process of cutting your boards and assembling them for play. It even includes finishing instructions to give your new boards a nice stain.
Next, you’ll need to mark out your hole. To make a regulation size hole, measure 9″ from the top and 12″ from the side of the board. From that point, trace a circle with a compass or pencil and then cut it out with a jigsaw.
Once the holes have been cut, you’ll need to sand your boards smooth all over with 220 grit sandpaper. This will help the bean bags slide easily across the surface. At this point, you can paint your boards if you like or add decals or stickers to personalize them.
While the boards are drying, dream up a design for their faces. A bullseye pattern is traditional but you can use whatever design you like.
