Cornhole Tips to Help You Get Started
The console game is a fun one, with players tossing a cylindrical shaped ball (a “bag” in the game parlance) round a shaped hole on the ground, hoping they will get it into the hole. Once the ball is into the hole, a marker (cornhole bag), with a hook on the top, is thrown in to score the point. The first person to reach fifteen points, or any team of players reaching the required scores, wins. The game is commonly taught at the beginning of a bowling alley league as well as at family get-togethers and parties. It’s a great game to play because all you need is a ball, your own body and a pad, and you’re good to go.
To begin playing cornhole, each player needs four hands and a clean non-woven cloth ball. Each person chooses a side and then chooses a card from that side’s hand to act as their playing hand. Players take turns throwing the ball toward their partner’s target on their side of the circle. After a player has tossed a ball to their partner, they must return to the hole they were at when the last person threw their ball, if only one player remains; the player who remained gets to keep their playing partner.
Cornhole is a great indoor game that can be played by groups of people for hours at a time. A quality cornhole board has lots of pockets and features that allow players to store a lot of balls and also make finding the right ball a breeze. Most quality cornhole boards are made of heavy plastic or wood, and feature black nylon pockets with dividers to store the balls inside. Many quality boards feature an optional pocket on the bottom where a Frisbee can be stored as well. Some boards are even waterproof so you can take them on the porch or patio while keeping your beverages dry.
