Bean Bag Game Rules

bean bag game rules

Some games, like the classic bean bag toss, are a great way for kids to build their throwing skills. Others help them with gross motor and cognitive learning. If you have children who want to play these types of games without a lot of space, they can stand back from the game base and use a strip of paper or some other object to mark a throwing line. This way everyone gets the chance to throw a few times before going out.

To make the game more fun, try playing music and adding a freeze in between rounds. This can be a little competitive and children may get hit by the bean bags while they are trying to move to catch them or duck, but they must remain frozen once the music stops.

You can also set up a board and a foul line and divide players into teams. The first player to earn 21 points wins. If a player scores more than 21, they must go back to 15 points and the opposing team takes their turn.

Another variation on this game is to place the boards about 24 feet apart for casual play and 27 feet for tournament or league play. The player or team that is positioned closest to the front of the boards will take their turn first. Players must remain behind the foul line at all times during play. Each player should have four bags of opposite colors.
